What should I do to occupy myself during a flight?

I am about to go on a flight from New Orleans, LA to Ft Lauderdale, FL. There will be a 1 1/2 hour flight, a 50 minute layover, and then a 2 1/2 hour flight to finish it off. I dont own a laptop or any other electronic that can go on a plane, except my iPod shuffle. I only fear that I wont be able to use it the whole trip because its got a bad battery. Any ideas?

What airline is it? Some airlines have TVS on the back of the seats. I just recently flew Jet Blue from San Diego to New York and just watched TV the whole time. It was great. Usually I bring my iPod, buy a few magazines, and most importantly.... bring my crossword and sudoku books. That makes a flight go by crazy fast. People always recommend bringing a good book to read, but if you're distracted by turbulence, like me, I can never get past one chapter.

Blane, Oh how I love flying there is so much to do. When I was younger and I used to fly, I would throw things at other passengers, they never thought it was me. As I grew and matured however I would often chat with the fellow or lady sitting next to me and we would often have lively discussions. One got violent one time and we were kicked off the plane after I called him and everyone else on the plane, "A bunch of homos!" Anyways another suggestion is to bring a book, or check out the hot flight attendants and if you feel confident enough you should hit on them. I have struck out every time 0 for 17. Sigh someday. Anyways you can also draw pictures on napkins. Or watch the in flight movie if it is offered. Good luck! BILL

if it has bad battery, you could buy a cheap mp3 player that runs on AA batteries so that you can pack exta's incase they run out, but their not too long... try and sleep a good long book or two is also a must if you enjoy things like it take puzzle books / crosswords etc

Those flights aren't too long, so you should be okay. They may show a movie during your second flight, but there is a good chance they won't. It's not quite a long enough flight. Bring some magazines - I usually buy a bunch that I don't normally read Crosswords or Sudoku Read a book
