I could not find a direct flight from LHR to New Orleans. With 1 stop it looks to be in the 12 -14 hour range.

There are no non-stop or direct flights from the UK to New Orleans so you have to change planes somewhere. The best connections are via Atlanta (Delta), Chicago (United or American), Houston (Continental) and Washington, DC (United). All of them except Delta have a UK airline alliance partner. The flights from London/Heathrow to Atlanta are about 8 hours and the non-stop flight from Atlanta to New Orleans is about an hour. LHR to Houston is almost 10 hours and the non-stop flight to New Orleans is an hour. LHR to Chicago is about 9 hours and LHR to Washington is about 8 hours. Non-stop from both Chicago and Washington to New Orleans is about 2 hours. You also go through Passport Control and Customs at the first arrival airport in the USA, so you need at least two (2) full hours between flights at the arrival airport. Better is to schedule three or even four hours between flights. Total trip (counting time between flights) is 11 to 14 hours.
