Question about NYC to New Orleans

Question about NYC to New Orleans?
I'm booking a trip from NYC to NO for the first week of October. I really prefer nonstop flights. I looked at flights today and there wasn't a lot of nonstop flights to choose from. The ones that were listed were at least $400 roundtrip per person. Does this sound unusually high to anyone else? If I wait a few weeks or even a couple months to book it, will there be other flights available, possibly cheaper ones? Am I right to be surprised that there are so few nonstop flights and so many 1 stop flights?

Your only non-stop options are: American from LaGuardia, JetBlue from Kennedy, or Continental from Newark. Non-stop flights are alwas much more expensive. $400 roundtrip isn't that bad. I would recommend taking JetBlue. They have three daily non-stop flights to New Orleans. They offer a terrific product and I think if you have to pay a few extra dollars to fly, you mind as well do it with an award winning airline.

The problem appears to be the first weekend in October (Fri, Sat, Sun). How flexible are your travel dates? For example, if you can travel to New Orleans on September 30th or October 1st and return after October 5th the fare is $220 to $265, non-stop on JetBlue from JFK: www.jetblue.com Some of the flights show only a few seats left at this price, so you might want to book soon). Good luck!
