Not sure about the hotel but try booking at Sofitel, Shangri-la Makati, Mandarin, or Manila Peninsula ^^ Also for your romantic retreat aside from going to the popular beaches of Boracay, try checking Puerto Galera out. http://www.boracayisland.org/ http://www.asiatravel.com/puerto.html

NorthWest, Korean Air, Philippine Airlines and Cathay Pacific all fly into Manila from the US; Mostly via Los Angeles Intl, Las Vegas or San Francisco (only Philippine Airlines is non-stop). There are lots of hotel options near the airport (see list below) These might make good sense on your first night and the night before you depart; the hotels i list are on Roxas blvd which has some of the nicer hotels in the Philippines, there are countless less expensive options in town all of the hotels i list below can arrange transport from the airport. I would not spend my time in Manila. I would not try to rent a car; you can hire a driver for the day for around US$60 and not have to deal with the traffic or getting lost. it is highly unlikely that your girlfriend is going to know her way around and she won't know how to drive. Boracay is a very popular island fairly close to Manila. I personally like Palawan better; that is a longer flight and tends to be more expensive but also much less crowded and has very nice beaches. 100 islands is a park in Northern Zambales or eastern Pangisinan; the park consists a lot of tiny islands. you can hire a banca boat to take you out to a private island and spend a few hours there... one concern is that you will be traveling during rainy season and it WILL rain every day so be prepared for that and also for the heat. The Philippines is a tropical country and it will be hot. I don't know if it is still there but there was a Philippine Consulate Office in New Orleans, about a block from the aquarium. You can check there or possibly If there are any Philippine grocery stores in your area, swing by and pick up a copy of any of the Philippine community newspapers. Most of them have advertisements for travel services that operate in the US to help plan trips to the Philippines; usually for much better rates than you can find online.

Stay at the Manila Hotel - its right on the bay, or the Pan-Pacific. If your budget is tight, try Malate Pensionne - it's a nice small hotel on Adriatico near Remedios Circle. I don't think you will find Flight/Hotel packages. Beach/water areas are many. I suggest Club Paradise in Busuanga - it's great. I think rates are around USD 140/person per day/night and includes all meals.
