How to plan a mardi gras bachelor party in new orleans?
I'm trying to plan a new orleans trip for a bachelor party of about 12 guys (flying out from canada). We're looking at about $1000 per person. Does anyone know of any good deals for groups that include flight and accommodations? I'm trying different travel websites, but it's very hard to book for 12 guys. Thanks

You really should use a real travel agency and not try to book your trip using the travel sites. An alternative is to arrange the trip through the airline you will use (call them and talk to a human). Mardi Gras Day in 2011 is on Tuesday, March 8th. MGD is the last day of the Carnival season and not the first or only day. MGD in New Orleans is preceded by about 11 days of parades and partying. The height of the celebrations will be during the last 6 days (Thursday evening to Tuesday at midnight). NOW is not too soon to make hotel and flight reservations. The best areas to stay in for Mardi Gras are the French Quarter, Central Business District and Warehouse District (best is the FQ). That way you can use your hotel as a base and enjoy the almost 24/7 street party that is Mardi Gras for the last 6 days of the celebrations. All of the larger hotels will be able to help arrange bachelor party activities and you may want to deal with the hotel for that rather than try to set it up via a travel agency. You do not need rental cars. Having a car is a liability during Carnival as the # 1 and # 2 problems are traffic & parking. See if the hotel will collect your group from the airport. if no, there are taxis and the airport shuttle: www.flymsy.com Best wishes!

Try expedia.com All you really need to do is book a few rooms and then go to the parades then bourbon st. at night after the parades... After looking at Expedia you might have to make the 1000 limit 2000 per person. Maybe try renting a house. My friends have used this house 3 times for mardi gras. http://www.tchouphouse.com/features.asp It has kick ass hot tub in the backyard with a bar and a tv to watch the live shows happening at tipitinas next door. You can walk to the corner and watch parades in front of tips. You can take a quick cab ride to the quarter after. Just a thought. Also, if you want to stay in the quarter try rental properties there. My friends have gotten houses there as well. Might be a little cheaper per person. http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/louisiana/new-orleans goodluck!
