An approximate cost for a flight to the USA from Australia?

I'd be traveling from Australia (brisbane to be precise), to New Orleans - Louisiana, return flight. Im guessing i'd have to stop at New York before New Orleans. Does anyone know an approximate cost of the flight?

You don't say when you are traveling and that matters a lot. However, I checked flights in March and you can get a round-trip ticket from Brisbane to New Orleans for $2542 (Australian Dollars) on United Airlines. The fare is $2762.27 (Australian Dollars) via Air New Zealand. Qantas' website won't actually let you search Brisbane to New Orleans. However, Brisbane to Los Angeles in March is $2157 (Australian Dollars). The airfare from LAX to New Orleans would be an additional $500 (US Dollars), which is about $570 AUD - so it is about the same price as Air New Zealand. Good luck!
