Is it cheaper to buy points instead of flights?
Jetblu has this thing where you can buy points and get 25% bonus points How many points does it take to fly from New York to New Orleans? It's a 94 dollar flight. 3,750 points is 85. Is it cheaper to just buy points and use those? What are the pros/cons?

In your example, at a price of $94 each way, it's far cheaper to pay for the flight than to buy points -- as is noted on the JetBlue website, the minimum amount of mileage required for redemption on a one-way flight is 5,000. Even if you're able to get an award for the 5,000 points, you'd be looking at spending far more than $94 to get the necessary points. EDIT: "Also Award travel is required round trip. You can't do just a one way ticket with award travel." This portion of AJ's answer is completely inaccurate -- many airlines, including JetBlue, allow award redemptions for one-way awards. (In fact, had he bothered clicking the link I provided, he would have seen that JetBlue does offer these awards, as I already noted in my answer.)

Its never going to be cheaper to buy points. When you redeem miles for award travel, there is a set number of miles you must redeem, regardless of what the actual cost is. Also Award travel is required round trip. You can't do just a one way ticket with award travel.
